Nobody wants me to make modifications it seems....

Why are you guys picking on me?? laugh.gif

Well I went behind your backs....and modified the headlights (it did not have any before) on my GT-14.

My wife thinks it looks like a robber.....so I nicknamed it the "bandit".

And at a distance.

Yes I know it is missing a screw. It shattered the corner when I tried to screw it in. I will make another next year.

I like how it looks whtractor/thumbsup.gif .

P.S. - Can't crank down on plexi or lexan to hard, they will break every time. Also, don't put your screw holes to close to the edge, and drill slow when drilling. The faster you drill, the more heat you build up. The more heat you build up, the easier it cracks........

Thanks for the kind words. They are extremely bright. Lots of good driving light solutions available. Big difference from the wheel horse candle power.

Was not cranking down......the hole was just a hair off.....caused stress while the body of the screw was passing through.

My own fault....should have redrilled it to center it with the hole on the grill......sigh

You just gave me an idea! Thanks!

I think they look good. Are they halogen?
Just make sure that your not exceding the output of your charging system which is probably 15amps.

Working on a mod myself on headlights, and your's look great!

If ya wanna keep the "bandit" thing going, you should paint a big grin in the grill.... biggrin.gif

I really do like the lights though. Always wondered why they even bothered with the regular lights on these machines. Having them so dim kinda defeats the purpose...

It would not be a grin but an evil "snicker".....lol

They are 55 watt halogen. That is a total of 110 watts.....lol

I don't know the amperage translation.

Charging system? We don't need no stinking charging system! horseplay.gif

They are an easy electrical hookup.

They come with a lighted rocker switch, but I wanted some originality.
I cut off the original connection and used the double plug wire that it comes with.
I spliced the old and new together and heat shrank the connection.
They have individual ground wires. I put both of them to the frame with
a small bolt and nut.

For some reason they come with "wood" screws for mounting. whtractor/imstupid.gif
I did not even use the mounting bracket per say. I epoxied the lights
themselves into the plexi after carefully measuring and cutting out the
openings with a coping saw. Before hand I painted the back of the plexi
with flat black and it does give it some depth. I did plan on giving it
some silver pin stripes, but after it broke, I will wait until I make another.

Best part is made in the USA! america.gif About $16

I even saw a driving light about the size and shape of the typical
wheel horse light cover opening. But you could only fit one light.

You could call it a cyclops?? biggrin.gif

Mike,

What section at Walmart did you buy those lights in? Automotive?

.5racer- 09-07-2008
Will the heat melt the plastic ?? might be a bad outcome of the slide out and short . sorry if I messed ya up ,but better make one from steel next go round .

Teddy da Bear- 09-07-2008
Maine Dad.....yes...automotive. They are called "Platinum Burners" part number on the box is QH-88CD. I see they have a 3 year warrantee.

Manufacturer is Optronics of Muskogee Oklahoma. www.optronicsinc.com

No racer.....the heat will not melt the plastic. The light housing protects it.
