1987 418-C tractor with 48" SD deck.
18 hp Kohler magnum twin cylinder. Eaton 11 hydro. Hydraulic lift. Pretty nice condition but needs some things here and there. A 1-year only tractor model. The "C" stands for "Commercial" which means it is like the 418-A but without the chrome and warning lights and I think it has the HD front spindles. Seat has some rips, but it nice enough and has armrests and a high back.
Engine is strong with no smoke/noises. Starts very easily and quickly. Hydro works well and is strong. Mower deck is solid and is newer than the tractor...I think it is a 1994. New blades this summer and it cuts nicely. It's ready to use as is.
I'd swear this thing has faster ground speed than my other tractors, especially in reverse. Probably not, but it seems fast to me.
Other than typical bumps, scratches, dents, and some peeling paint/rust around the footrests the tractor is in pretty decent condition. The only thing that needs attention is the steering which is occasionally jumping a tooth on the gear/sector. Nothing looks broken and it mostly does it when the tractor is sitting still and you try to turn the wheel. Not a major problem, but a touch annoying and can probably be fixed easily if I had the time to mess with it. Probably could use another oil and trans fluid change too...

Located in West Lebanon, IN (47991) which is 50 miles north of Terre haute, 100 west of Indy, and 45 SW of Lafayette, or 50 miles east of Champaign/Urbana, IL. I can bring it to Alton, IL (62002, near St. louis, MO) for no charge at my convenience. Gas is cheap now, so take a fall road trip to western Indiana!
If paid for it can sit here in my garage as long as you wish to arrange pickup. if I happen to drop dead after you've paid me but before you come after it you will have to deal with my wife who isn't "into" the whole tractor thing...
I have had this for sale before but ended up pulling the ad when I needed this tractor to get me through the mowing season after my dedicated cutting machines broke down. Before that it rescued my neighbor when his Cub Cadet took a dump and was in the shop. It's been my "old reliable"...I use it almost daily for something or another.
I might list it on eBay sometime if nobody here is interested.
